Description
THE ORIGIN
Dug from the earth in North Africa. Mixed with water, thrown on a kick wheel, and left to dry in the sun. The hands that shaped these are covered in dust and dried mud. No assembly lines. Just a workshop, a kiln, and generations of muscle memory. The design is Italian, the soil is Moroccan, the labor is human.
THE BUILD
Inspect the surface. The glaze is thick and glossy, pooling in the crevices of the clay. You can feel the ridges of the brushstrokes where the artisan laid down the oxide pigments. The rims are wavy, intentionally imperfect. They don’t stack perfectly flat. They have significant weight.
-
Hand-painted typography and animal motifs with visible pigment texture.
-
High-gloss finish over dense, low-fire earthenware.
-
Irregular edges that prove human involvement, not machine molding.
THE FUNCTION
Food safe, but fragile. Do not put these in the microwave. The clay heats up too fast and will crack. Wash them by hand with warm water and soap to preserve the glaze. Use them for appetizers, dry snacks, or mount them on the wall using a wire hanger.
