Description
THE ORIGIN
Sourced directly from the clay pits of Fes. The process starts with raw earth, soaked in tanks and stomped by foot to remove air pockets. Artisans throw the vessel on a manual kick wheel. No molds. No assembly lines. The kiln fires using olive pits, creating the intense, fluctuating heat needed to vitrify the clay. It is loud, hot, and dirty work.
THE BUILD
This vessel fights with itself. The collar wears a high-gloss emerald glaze, slick and cold to the touch. The body is a different beast. It features a matte, white-washed finish applied over a dark base. The surface is deliberately distressed. It peels. It cracks. It feels like rough concrete against the palm. This is not a manufacturing error; it is a forced weathering technique.
- Upper rim finished in traditional high-gloss emerald glaze
- Lower body features a tactile, pitted surface texture
- Thick walls provide significant weight and stability
THE FUNCTION
It holds weight. Use it for large floor plants like palms or dracaenas. The interior is porous clay. Always use a plastic liner or saucer inside to catch water run-off and protect your floors. Do not leave this vessel outside in freezing temperatures. The ceramic will absorb moisture, freeze, and shatter.
